Corre Coletivo Cênico was created by gay and black multi-artists at the end of 2019. The group focuses on the impact of masculinity on the construction of gay identity. In this sense, their research and actions have been developed to deconstruct the idea of “macho stuff.” Their trajectories span the interior of Bahia and the outskirts of its capital, Salvador. All members of the group are marked by violent situations regarding their considered feminine traits, and by oppressive discourses such as “try to look like a man,” “you’re the face of AIDS,” and “that’s faggot thing”, thus perceiving themselves as abject bodies to society.

Identities
The performances, which the group calls “scenic cells”, express the sum of the identities and identifications of its members through their artistic work. The Corre Scenic Collective from Salvador comes into being when the artists’ identities, even within different expressive universes, find convergence on artistic and political points.
In the composition of the collective, it is possible to observe (even when we lose sight of) the limits of the physicality of the names, works, and art of its members. They are Anderson Danttas, an internationally recognized actor, administrator, and dancer; Igor Nascimento, a cultural producer, dancer, and actor; and Luiz Antônio Sena Jr, a researcher of the theaters of the real, a specialist in cultural management and politics, and a multifaceted artist.
Completing the ensemble, there is Marcus Lobo, a researcher in art and media with a focus on the visuality of the scene and technical elements, who is also a professional director and actor; Rafael Brito, an actor, assistant director, and communications assistant, who works as a producer, advisor, and reporter; and Muri Almeida, actor, dancer, DJ and researcher of transformative art with a focus on aesthetics.

DELIVERY OF US
Based on biographical and fictional accounts and interactions proposed by the performers, the collective Corre presents Delivery da gente (Delivery of Us), a journey through Instagram, WhatsApp, e-mail apps, and, to top it off, a Zoom meeting. A tasting experiment that brings together 05 fags – Anderson Danttas, Igor Nascimento, Luiz Antônio Sena Jr., Marcus Lobo, and Rafael Brito – who offer their bodies as dishes, archetypes of desire, to tell about the paths taken in the process of forming their gay identity. There are many “I’s”, wounds, battles, arguments, and transgressions.

IMMERSION In SÍTIO SANTA TEREZA
In September 2020, Corre Coletivo’s first immersion process took place, to develop the project Corre pra sentir (Run to Feel). They spent four days completely immersed in Sítio Santa Tereza, with no external communication. There, they held workshops, improvisation games, and dialog circles. As a result of the shared experiences, they created a panel and a mini-doc.

PARA-ISO PROJECT
On April 10, 2021, after months of research and immersion, the group made its online premiere. Para-iso (Para-dise) is a theater performance divided into eight episodes available on YouTube.
Para-iso (Para-dise) proposes a reflection on how HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 have affected gay bodies, trying to draw connections between the two epidemics. Until March 24, 2021, in one year, more people have died from COVID-19 (317,936) than from HIV/AIDS (281,156) in four decades.
Para-iso (Para-dise) is an open letter, a manifesto, a message to reach everyone without distinction.
The project received financial support from the State of Bahia through the Secretariat of Culture and the Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia (Aldir Blanc Program), coordinated by the Special Secretariat for Culture and the Ministry of Tourism, Federal Government.

CONVERSATIONS FOR PARADISE
Conversas pro Paraíso (Conversation for Para-dise) sets out to counter disinformation, the creation of fear, guilt, silence, subjective closets, and social islands. The performance takes dialog as an act that calls for a critical analysis of reality, as a movement to create new narratives, bringing diversity and representativeness to the creative process and the final content. The first edition was held online, in Lives on Instagram, to discuss and reverberate the themes addressed in Para-iso (Para-dise). The group welcomed several guests, researchers, artists, infectologists, NGO managers, and cultural spaces that embrace the LGBTQIAPN+ movement.
As a result of the impact of the first edition, the group continued the project, changing it to a videocast format. With the Cultura na Palma da Mão/PABB Award via the Aldir Blanc Law, they completed and released five episodes on their YouTube channel. In each episode, a different guest offered their experiences and research on HIV/AIDS. By doing so, the group sought to highlight the plurality and diversity of statements on the subject.
CONVERSAS PRO PARAÍSO

RUN TO FEEL
Corre pra sentir (Run to Feel) held its first season in May. Corre Coletivo has developed meetings with gay men to exchange ideas, affections, and experiences in order to build other visions of the same story. The encounters involve body practices and theatrical games as triggers for exchanging memories, affections, and life stories. It’s a welcoming space to get to know and recognize each other based on the other person’s story.
In its second edition, the project seeks to discuss rights. “Every human being has the right to life, freedom, and personal security,” a definition of universal rights tells us. Thinking about these universal rights and ourselves, “bixas”, Corre Coletivo is putting on its second season of encounters of affection between gay men.

MUSEUM OF WHAT WE ARE
What is a museum? Who chooses what is on exhibition? What is your museum like? What are you curating and exhibiting? Between official documents, biographical materials, collective observations, and poetic uprisings, Corre Coletivo Cênico creates the play Museu do que somos (Museum of What We Are), a theatrical-performative-museological experience that questions memory and hegemonic narratives, commonly exhibited in museums, galleries and venues for art and culture. Written and directed by Luiz Antônio Sena Jr, the work is built on the experiences of its members (Anderson Danttas, Muri Almeida, and Rafael Brito) and their interaction with gay men during a series of dialogues held in 2022 in the city of Salvador, Bahia. This experience is recreated at each meeting-visit along with the audience, who are invited to share their memories, take a stand on certain issues and curate each “piece” on exhibition, in an attempt to highlight collective histories. In keeping with this, it produces a crossroads of contexts and considerations on sexuality, territories, race, and serologies, affirming the bodily and immaterial LGBTQIAPN+, black and indigenous presences, from the interior to the world.

UPRISING
An ancestral dive.
Two hundred years ago, a great popular mobilization culminated in the independence of Bahia, on July 2, 1823. The political liberation of a territory from its colony. But in today’s context, many bodies are trapped in social prejudices and violence – racism, sexism, LGBTphobia, among others – which prevent these bodies from moving. This is where the Levante (Uprising) project comes in, which seeks to question the ideas of independence and affirmation of subjects in society. The point of view is on the subject rather than the territory, as it was two centuries ago.
Levante (Uprising) is part of Corre’s artistic research into social normativities and the impacts of colonization that for centuries have crossed dissident existences, such as LGBTQIAP+ people, women and black bodies. The project took place in Alagoinhas, Cachoeira and Salvador, with the participation of about 60 high school students and local artists in crowd performances, as well as contemporary artists involved in the affirmation of dissident subjects in the face of coloniality. They are: the artist and graffiti artist Pinho Blures, in Alagoinhas, the performer and artist Tina Melo, in Cachoeira, and the multi-artist Caboclo de Cobre, in Salvador.
