Felipe de Assis is a performing artist, cultural manager, researcher, and curator. A PhD candidate and MA in Performing Arts through PPGAC–UFBA (Graduate Program in Performing Arts at the Federal University of Bahia), he is dedicated to projects that integrate artistic creation, curatorship, and cultural management.

 

With extensive experience in independent curatorial work, he has collaborated on major initiatives such as Programa Rumos Itaú Cultural (2017–2018), Edital Oi Futuro (2017, 2018, and 2021), MITbr (a curatorial strand of the Mostra Internacional de Teatro de São Paulo) (2018 and 2019), MEXE (Portugal) (2019), and FNT Guaramiranga (2017 and 2018). In 2023, he served as Artistic Director of Futuros – Arte e Tecnologia (Futuros – Art and Technology), and in 2024 as Executive Director of the Embaixada Cultura project at Casa G20 in Rio de Janeiro.

 

He is co-creator and General Coordinator of FIAC Bahia (Festival Internacional de Artes Cênicas da Bahia) (Bahia International Performing Arts Festival), where he has also worked as a curator since 2008. He is actively involved in collaborative networks such as the Núcleo dos Festivais Internacionais de Artes Cênicas do Brasil (Brazil’s International Performing Arts Festivals Network) (since 2009), the Rede de Festivais de Teatro do Brasil (Brazil Theatre Festivals Network) (since 2015), and “Colectivo Utópico” (a platform connecting artists from Argentina, Switzerland, and Brazil).

 

Through 7Oito Projetos & Produções, he develops and produces festivals such as Ponto FIAC and FIAC Bahia (since 2013), and also coordinates cultural mediation projects in partnership with major institutions such as Braskem (2014) and SESC (2018 and 2019). His work also includes directing, producing, and touring theatre and dance productions, including Feitocal (2015) and Looping: Bahia Overdub (2015–2024).

 

Felipe also provides consultancy for festivals and teaches performing-arts curatorship courses, consolidating his position as a leading figure in Brazil’s national and international cultural scene.
