Conceived by Thiago Cohen, [RE]FLORESTA ([RE]FOREST) is a dance performance-installation that investigates the body as a living territory of memory, nature, and transformation. Leaves, branches, and organic materials from urban tree pruning form an installation that comes to life through the performers’ action, creating a shared experience with the audience.

The work arises from Thiago Cohen’s ongoing research into becoming-tree, in dialogue with Afro-Pindoramic cosmoperceptions and ancestral knowledge. Along this path, dance interweaves with the earth, with roots, with winds, and with time, turning the performance space into an environment of encounter between human and more-than-human bodies, organic matter, and collectivity. By bringing art, ecology, and ancestry together, [RE]FLORESTA invites us to slow the gaze and to cultivate other perceptions of the relationships between body, territory, and community.

Title: Floresta: Poetry as Afro-Pindoramic Magic in Dance Creation Processes

Synopsis: The work explores the intersection between poetry, dance, and ancestrality, presenting an artist’s book structured in three parts: to fertilize, to sow, and to harvest. Supervised by Prof. Dr. Carlos Eduardo Oliveira do Carmo, it highlights the importance of ancestrality and artistic practices in building a trajectory in dance. The research proposes a poetic and ethical approach to art, encouraging reflection on the relationship between body, environment, and collectivity.
